Do you have problems with dog urine odor in carpet, your vehicle and other areas? Dog urine can be very challenging to remove unless you know the insider methods. Supermarket and Pet store odor removal products just aren’t strong enough to break down the components of urine and we know how frustrating that can be. That is why 12 years ago I put together a technique that really works. Here is a step by step on how a professional odor remover gets rid of dog urine odor permanently and easily!

Ken The Odor Dude

Hi It is Ken The Odor Dude here.
After over 12 years of removing dog urine smell out of carpet I am pleased to share with you the easy and simple technique that we use when we professionally clean carpets and other things like concrete floors, vehicles, furniture, shoes, floors, curtains and so on

The secret to removing the dog urine is to break down the urine first then extract it out with a wet vacuum or just use towels to soak it up . It works like a charm and anybody can do this.

The best thing is you can use inexpensive household chemicals to remove even the worst odor and the stain. WE have a 4 part chemical that you can make yourself easily and effectively and we have used it daily for 12 years. It works amazingly and you can use it to.

I just want to say we are very happy with Kens techniques. Being breeders of dogs, we have a room in our home devoted to and used as a puppy nursery. This room is cleaned several times a day but there was still a terrible doggy smell. We had tried numerous domestic and commercial products spending countless $$$. There was not one of those products that worked and after implementing Kens techniques I can no longer detect any dog smell and my friends have commented that they are surprised that they to can not smell any doggy odors either. Our home smells fresh and clean. We love this stuff and you will too!
Paula and Graeme
Sharon, Mass.

Step One. (this is the bit most people get wrong)

How do I find where the urine is?

Learn to identify where the urine is properly using our insider trick.

Finding the actual contamination’s can be very tricky. A humans nose can become acclimatised and this makes it difficult to locate the actual area where the odor is. Urine is best detected by mixing some of the formula that we promote on this website and spraying it around the floor until you see white foaming. It will look like the image below where I have sprayed the floor and waited for the chemicals to react. Around 3-5 minutes is fine. The area where the urine contamination is can be seen clearly in white as the urine has reacted with the formulation. A simple way to find the actual contamination correctly. If there is no foam there won’t be urine there.

Dog or cat urine in the floor reacting with chemicals after a light spray

Step Two Removing Dog Urine Odor From Carpet (Shown by professional odor remover)

Treat the affected area with a generous amount of our urine neutralizing formulation. Douse it with plenty of the product. We use our own formulation which I recommend and it is very cheap to make. About 1/20th of the price of products in the shop and only contains 4 chemicals that you most likely have in your home already.

The professionals secret is to put down as much chemical as there is urine and as it is so cheap to make you don’t need to worry about wasting it. Be generous!

Step 3

How much chemical should you use?

The answer is apply as much chemical as there was urine. If you cat peed there and it was once then you will only need a small amount (around 1/2 cup) . If you cat or dog peed 20 times there you will need much more (x 20) approximately. What we do is apply the chemical and wait 5-10 minutes. We then apply it again. If there is no foaming we know we have solved the problem.

If the floor foams up again you know you need to apply more chemical as there is more urine then chemical. I hope that makes sense. in other words you need as much chemical as there is urine in the floor.
Below is pictured a severe case of dog urine and note how much foaming there is. This took 5 applications with extraction before we were able to remove all the urine.

Severe Dog urine odor second application

Step Four

Remove the excess foam and residues with a wet vac (flush it with warm water and then extract it up) If you want a life saver around the house then these vacuums are very good. Measure your results by sniffing the treated area after 10 minutes or so. If you can still smell dog or cat urine then apply another treatment of chemical. If you have a minor contamination then the smell will be totally gone after one treatment as the chemical breaks down all the urine without damaging the carpet.

If you have a regular problem then mix the stuff up and have it in a bucket in your garage ready for use.

Dog urine even if it is old dog urine will still be able to be removed .

I learned many years ago how to get dog urine smell out of carpet when I was working as a professional odor remover. The company I worked for had a range of products for getting dog and cat urine smell out of carpet and these expensive chemicals were very ineffective. I had a background in chemicals so I was able to experiment with various simple formulations to see what was the most effective for removing dog urine smells. I discovered that using simple household chemicals was safe for carpet and highly effective.

The secret is though to get the right mix and the right ingredients.

When we do work we also share tips with the dog owners of how to get dog urine smell out of carpet and how to to train your dog not to urinate inside the house.

Unfortunately these days we have carpet and carpet is so porous and absorbent making it a challenge to remove urine from.
Dog urine odors can be so upsetting and destructive to a family home and the worst thing is your beloved pet is not urinating intentionally to upset you. There are many reasons why dogs urinate inside a home but let’s not get into that now. All you need to know is how to remove the urine smells from carpet, furniture, concrete and other areas instantly and effectively

Are you sick of searching for a solution to your dog urine smells online?I want to reassure you that you need not search for a solution any longer as I will give you my personal tips, techniques and formulas to give you the best solution that is guaranteed to get rid of the dog urine smell easily and effectively today and it won’t cost you a penny.

Why am I doing this ?

I get so frustrated by misinformation and poor techniques on the internet and I also get sick of cleaning up the home DIY methods that continue to fail so I decided to put this website up and reveal my methods.

This is 1000′s of hours of experience compacted into simple step by step lessons and videos for you and today you can access this information.

//

here is some feedback

Severe Cat Urine in rug.
This is nothing short of a miracle! Our shaggy rug has been used as an indoor toilet stop for our 5 cats for the last 6 months. I have tried almost everything on the market to treat pet urine including the usual recommendations of vinegar, baking soda and several so called miracle substances. Nothing had worked and I was always left with a slightly changed version of the original smell.. I was at my wits end and ready to throw out the rug as I considered it too contaminated to ever be cleaned. The result is miraculous! I now have a very clean and fresh smelling rug – no trace of pee odor at all. I am extremely impressed and would recommend this to even the most skeptical. This is the only thing I can find that has delivered as promised – I should know I have tried almost all of them!

Sheena

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Having had experience with the enduring aroma of cat urine in our previous house, and the many failed attempts at trying to eradicate it completely using various products that claim success in this area, I was more than a little upset when returning home in my nearly new car after a visit to the vet with our cat, the aforementioned animal decided to empty its bladder on the car seat. I knew from experience that it was virtually impossible to remove the smell of cats urine and I had visions of climbing into the car on a hot summer’s day and being overwhelmed with the odor.

I should now say the smell “was” virtually impossible to remove. After returning home I immediately searched Google for a remedy to my problem. I found it here. The smell entirely disappeared and now, two weeks later, there is still no trace of it which, as far as I am concerned, proves its worth as I have tried other products in the past which temporarily mask the smell but as they wear off the smell returns.

This the only permanent solution I have found.

Chris Martin

Severe Dog urine odor second application

Step Four

Measure your results by sniffing the treated area after 10 minutes or so. If you can still smell dog or cat urine then apply another treatment of chemical. If you have a minor contamination then the smell will be totally gone after one treatment as the chemical breaks down all the urine without damaging the carpet.

To dry the area once you are happy stand on folded towels and put pressure on the carpet or better still if the budget allows flush the area with warm water and immediately flush and suck up the residues with a good quality wet vacuum cleaner as shown

here is some feedback

Hi Ken the Odor Dude here. So often we get the job of removing severe dog urine from concrete garage floors and although this sounds difficult it is not.

Urine has a sticky component that penetrates concrete to the deepest levels and therefore needs a strong treatment with excellent chemicals to break it down and remove the terrible stench. We use a very simple 4 piece formulation that you can make at home. Click here for more details. It is very cheap to use and works a treat!

Dog urine will penetrate concrete and become very challenging to remove due to the porosity of concrete.

As an example If you put a piece of concrete under a microscope you will see hundreds of small holes that make up the composition of your concrete floor so imagine when you your cat or dog takes a leak on your concrete floor the problems you are going to have if you don’t know how to remove it properly..

Here are some insider tips to help you Remove Cat Or Dog Urine from concrete

Step No 1

Identify the area where the urine is situated first and apply a heavy dose of formula 2. If you are unsure of where the dog urine is then pour some of the 4 piece formula on the ground and look for white foaming.

Step No 2

Once you have found the contaminations pour about 5 pints of the solution onto the areas. You can find the formula on our information page.
The longer the odor control product is left on the ground the better result you will get.

Remembering how we discussed how absorbent concrete is and how much fluid you need to ensure the chemical penetrates deep into the concrete to solve the odor issue you have.Leave the chemical to soak in for 5 to 10 minutes so it has a chance to soak into the porous concrete.
You will notice more white foaming at this stage which is the chemical working on the urine residues and this is totally normal. The chemical will start to break down the urine residues so they are able to be removed easily as shown in the next step. It is important to extract the broken down residues with a quality wet vacuum or extraction unit that can suck up liquids.

Step No 3

Once the chemical stops foaming (can take longer than 10 minutes depending on how severe the contamination is) the chemical has burnt itself out and it is time to extract the residues using a wet vacuum cleaner.
Suck up all the residues so you have a clean concrete floor and give it the sniff test. If there is still strong odor there repeat the process.

In severe cases you will need to bolster the formulation by increasing the powder additive up to 10% more. I have also had to over the years seal a couple of areas as the urine was so deep and so old that sealing the floor after an acid wash was a perfect solution and reduced the smell to nothing. The owner was happy and so was I as my labor cost did not run out too much and I was able to move onto the next job. I used a 2 pack epoxy sealer but it is critical to understand that the salt in the urine will corrode the sealer if you do not follow the steps above.

So now you have the insider tips on How To Rid Dog Urine Out Of The Garage Concrete Floor and you will be able to sort out that horrible stench in your garage floor. If you have cat or dog urine smell in carpet then click here

All the best Ken

Dog urine strength can change depended on the amount of water they drink. Dogs that drink alot of water and are healthy generally produce weaker urine and easier to remove while older dogs that don’t drink much water and eat low quality processed foods produce foul smelling urine that will be a nightmare to get rid of out of the carpet.

Hi It is Ken The odor Dude here.

Ken The Odor Dude

A regular question we get asked is

How to get rid of dog odor in a car?

Getting rid of dog odor (click here for dog urine odor) is very easy to do. Over the years we have perfected a system that works very well and we only uses household ingredients (4) to remove the dog odor. Even the really bad odors can be removed using this system including dog poo and urine.

Step One. Locate the worst areas

HOT TIP

Try the rear left hand side passenger seat or floor in UK, Australia, SA. Dogs usually sit where they have eye contact with the driver. In USA try the right hand side rear seat and flooring first!

You can spray some of the formula onto the carpet and look for white foaming which indicates where the dog odor is coming from.

Step No One

Mix up some formula in a open bucket

Step No 2. Spray the carpet to locate the dog odor contamination’s (you do not need to remove the carpet as shown)

Step no 3. Look for areas with white foaming

Step No 4. Douse the area with my formula and leave it to work for 5-10 minutes

Step No 5. Extract the formula using a wet vacuum cleaner and very hot water. A good quality wet vacuum normally comes with a small wand that enables hot water from the tank to be injected into the fabric then extracted (sucked out) with the wand

Gently extract the residues and chemical

Here is an example of what I mean in a milk contamination removal. It is exactly the same method for dog odor as it is Milk spills.

Use the same techniques for how to get rid of dog smell in car

Dog odor is generally caused by either the dogs coat exuding oils into the fabric or worse the dogs anal glands expressing that foul smelling oily substance that smells so bad.

The problem with dog oil in car seats and flooring is ……the odor stays around for years and every time there is moisture or heat introduced the odor comes back with vengeance.

Put these together with dog urine and you have a troublesome combination that can cause odor issues well into the future.

With young children or incontinent elderly folk in your house, the chance of the occasional accident around the toilet through people missing the bowl is very high, and the urine that soaks into the grout or underneath the linoleum can can produce strong odor and be a health hazard if it is not treated correctly.

We have found over the years that with our formula is very effective (formula two) for treating these types of areas with ease. Urine can be a challenging odor to remove and using our simple 3 step urine neutralizer technique solves the problem and leaves the area left smelling fresh and sanitized.

Unfortunately just cleaning the floor with normal household cleaners will not neutralize the urine, and in time harmful bacteria and viruses will form, coupled with that terrible stale urine odor that is so unpleasant.

Typically if your flooring substrate around the actual toilet itself is not permeable i.r. urine can not penetrate in then you should have no problems in cleaning the area with normal household cleaners, however tiles with grout or “tired” linoleum that allows urine to get under the lino will cause big odor problems for you in time. Old linoleum is the worst offender coupled with a chipboard floor and you have a big problem. You need a specialist product and a specialist technique outlined below to remove the urine and the odor.

Below is an actual job we did recently in a deceased estate where the urine in the flooring could be smelt as you entered the home. It was very strong however formula two dealt to it in a short time as shown.

This photo shows the flooring substrate with the formula applied to it (note the foaming as the product goes to work on the urine residues).

Step One. Mix up the professional odor neutralizer product.

Step Two. Apply the product to the floor with a spray pack. Look for foaming to indicate the worst areas.

Step Three. Apply a heavy solution to the affected areas and leave it for 5-10 minutes or until foaming finishes.

This photo shows the urine 50% eaten by the non toxic product (note the foaming has reduced).

Step Four. After 5 minutes you can extract the residues out with a wet vac as shown below. You can use the wet vac for carpet and furniture also and perfect for those times when you cat or dog vomits on the carpet too!!. Great for wine spills on the carpet and you can use formula one and a wet vac together no problems.

Alternatively use old towels and throw then away after soaking up the mess.

Once you have extracted the area repeat the steps again.

When the residues are no longer yellow then you know you have removed the urine residues. Mop the floor as you normally would, dry it and you are all done.

This is how to get rid of urine smells in your bathroom

Thanks for viewing

My house stinks of dog, how can I get rid of the smell?

Hi Ken the Odor Dude here. This is a common question we get asked and one that we do a lot of work on out in the field. The good news is you can remove it quite easily when you know how and below I have detailed the system we use so you can follow along. We are not talking about dog urine odor here just general dog odor. Click here for dog urine odor removal. Any questions we are here to help so feel free to ask away.

Client Comment 2013
Absolutely amazing Ken. Our friends were complaining about the dog odor in our apartment when they come over for dinner ( which we could not really notice) so after a few remarks we got the hint and decided to get rid of it. I have heard that dog smell is really hard to remove but we used your techniques and formula and it was easy and 100% successful. The foaming in the carpet was amazing and the pong has completely gone. Now I can have my guest over with out feeling embarrassed or guilty. Thanks Ken you are a star in our eyes.
 Kara Wright Brentwood LA

Dog smell can be very unpleasant in the home particularly on humid warm days where the odor builds and really starts to honk. Dog odor has the complication of many dog owners not being able to smell it as they live with it each day so finding the source of the smell becomes very important. We have a simple free solution for that .

HOT TIP
The “dog smell” is not usually right across the whole carpet (many carpet cleaners will tell you this). It is normally confined to the dogs favorite areas.
The odor will spread however if you steam clean the carpet so DON’T get the carpet cleaner in just yet!. First you must find the source of the smell and spot treat it with our technique below. 99% of the time the odor comes from the various “favorite ” areas that your hound relaxes in around the house and you will already know about these but see below for how to locate the other areas using our secret technique.

What causes dog smell in carpet?

There are two main reasons for dog odor in a house.

1. The first and worst odor comes from the anal glands secreting a disgusting smelling fluid that will penetrate deep into carpet and furniture fibers causing a rank smell that will continue to cause problems for years to come.

2. The second issue comes from the oil in the dogs coat which once again will penetrate carpet fibers and cause a slightly less obnoxious odor but never the less an odor that will stick around for a very long time. Owners get used to it and even on warn days they don’t notice it as much as some one entering the home for the first time.

How to get rid of dog smell

Step One.

Find the worst offending areas by either sniffing the carpet (UGH!!) or mixing up our product and gently spraying the top of the carpet looking for white foaming as shown below. The residues will react with the chemical and produce a light white foam which indicates dog odor. This is an example shown on a car floor and the dogs backside has been in this spot many times.

Spray the flooring in your house, the couch, and anywhere you suspect may be producing odor and look for foaming.

Step Two.
Once you have found the odor areas you will need to treat it with formula two. Spray a heavy application onto the surface and let the chemical do its work while you have a cup of coffee.

After 10 minutes use either a wet vacuum to extract out the residues or simply put a folded up towel on the spot and stand on it for 2 minutes moving your feet to make sure all the residues are sucked up.

Step Three.
Do the sniff test again and determine if you have managed to remove all the dog odor. Any doubt repeat the exercise by spraying a heavy application on the top of the carpet and extract with a carpet extraction machine while injecting warm water at the same time and helps the machine to extract all the waste. Or use a towel as shown below (wet vac will always be more effective)

Fold towels first then stand on them. Make sure they are folded when standing on so they mop up more. The user in this photo did not fold first!!

A lot of people recommend spraying the house with air fresheners which will only be a temporary solution to your dog odor issue, the same as putting shake vacs and those types of products into the carpet. They will only mask the odor for a very short time and not actually do anything to contribute to removing the contaminants that are causing the problem in the first place. You must find the source of the odor i.e the actual areas of the carpet that are contaminated and from there treat those areas.

Good luck. Any questions we are here to help

Hi It is Ken the Odor Dude here and I can help you remove dog odor and dog urine odor from your yard or garage and BBQ area easily and effectively. If you are looking for the best dog urine odor remover then read on
It is easy to remove severe dog urine smells from outside areas and even grass using my techniques and personal formula that you can make using 4 simple household products. The same formula we use every day to remove dog urine and dog odor from vehicles, carpet, furniture, concrete and so on.

Here is the step by step tips to remove dog urine from your yard or patio.

Step No One
Find the source of the dog urine smell.

Sounds basic right? Well most people miss this vital step and end up not treating the right area. Most yards have concrete and grass that can be contaminated so it is important to find exactly where the urine is.

How to find out the exact location?

Real simple. Just mix up and douse the area with my formula and it will foam up where the urine or contamination is. Real easy and very cheap to do.

Here is the link to my formulation right here.

(To mix up a 3.5 gallon bucket of the product will cost you around 50 cents. Very inexpensive and very powerful)
I developed this formula over a 12 year career in odor removal It is cheap to use and 100% effective

See below a gentle contamination. Note the white foaming and also the wet concrete. The wet concrete is not contaminated with urine only the white part. EASY AS!!!

Pour some of my formula one onto the area and look for white foam. The formulation will react with the urine and make it foam white. Once you locate it simply douse that area with formula No 2 and let the chemicals eat the uric acid and salt and more importantly the smell. SO EASY!!!!

Photo shows how to locate dog urine

Here is an example of the product foaming on a front entrance mat

Step Number two
Treating the dog urine in your yard.

A. Clean the area first and remove all loose debris.

B. Once you have located the source of the odor as shown in step one mix up a bucket of the formulation and douse the area. That is it and very easy to do.

(To mix up a 3.5 gallon bucket of the product will cost you around 50 cents. Very inexpensive and very powerful)
I developed this formula over a 12 year career in odor removal It is cheap to use and 100% effective

Photo shows putting in 1 of the 4 components into a 3.5 gallon (10 litres) bucket ready to treat a yard or BBQ area.

Pour the chemical on and spread it with a broom. You will get a lot of foaming but let the odor elimination formula soak into the concrete for approximately 10 minutes, then you can safely hose the area or use a wet vac to suck it up.

If you want to you can agitate the solution on the concrete with a stiff broom to help break down the dog urine however the chemical will do the work for you. Occasionally you will have very coarse concrete surfaces but once again either use the chemical on its own or agitate the area in conjunction with the chemical and you will be fine.

Once you have hosed the concrete do the sniff test and see if you are happy with the results. For severe cases you may need to do a second application and then your concrete area will be clean and smelling fresh again.

Click here to get the formula

Tips for removing dog urine smell from your grass areas

If your dog has peed on your grass then you can use our DIY formula easily and inexpensively however you will need to douse the area with the product which may kill off the grass if the dog urine hasn’t already done it.

You can use the formulation for old urine smells in the grass also.

Another technique is to hose the urine in over the warmer months however this can cause problems if the weather is bad and the soil gets too wet as the urine will not be soaking in and will start to fester away on the surface . If this occurs you can using a pitchfork start to put some holes into your lawn to help drain the water away. Push down deep into the soil.

Quite often a regular hosing of the grass will control the odors if the urine is recent and the grass and soil is dryish. The problems arise in winter when the soil is very wet and the urine is not evaporating off.

Rest assured if the issue gets worse you can always use my amazing DIY formula for removing dog urine odors.

You don’t have to waste anymore money on products that don’t work

* 100% Money Back Warranty

* Pour on and walk away

*Short Online videos showing you how to treat any area with my product

*Just a few cents each application

All the best Ken

“My car has dog urine in it and we have had it professionally cleaned but the smell keeps getting worse! What should i do?”

This is a question we get asked on a regular basis so here is the solution?

Dog urine smells terrible and we have worked out a very simple system to remove the dog urine and the smell.

Removal professional on how to remove dog urine smells and stains from your vehicle.

Tips for removing dog urine smells from your car

No 1

First find where the dog urine smell is coming from

So often we get cars given to us that have already been valeted by professional car cleaners and they have missed the spot where the urine is.

There are two ways to find the dog urine odor. The first is to sniff the areas and find it that way or if you want the easy way then mix up my dog urine odor remover and gently spray the floor of the car behind the passenger seat and the seats looking for white foaming as shown below with the example of cat urine.

This is a typical example of what should happen when you apply our formulation (contains 4 secret ingredients sued by us daily). The example shown below is with cat urine however it is identical to dog urine. Note the foaming on the seat where the chemical has been applied

Tip No 2

Use as much dog urine removal chemical as there is urine.Click here to get the formulation

Once you have located the dog urine odor area mark it with a piece of chalk so you don’t forget where it is and then mix up formula two . Now you will need to take a guess as to how much urine is there and this can be tested by the amount of foaming when you apply the product ( the more foaming you get the more urine is there)

Don’t just spray the top of the carpet as this will not neutralize the dog urine that is inside the carpet fibers and the car seats. Dog urine penetrates right into the deepest part of all fabric fibres and because the viscosity of dog urine is like oil it will completely saturate the carpet and start producing very bad dog urine odor. Therefore you need to make sure the dog urine odor remover penetrates right into the carpet and the foam in the seats.

BE GENEROUS with your application as it costs just cents to make it anyway so why not use it?

Tip Number 3.

Extract out the residues

We discussed using alot of chemical the same as if you were treating concrete surfaces you need to use 5 times as much product as there is urine. Like concrete car seats and flooring also suck up dog urine like a sponge and will produce nasty odor if left untreated. We get asked regularly how to get rid of dog urine smell in people cars.

Ok so you have doused the area and you have a lot of foaming going on.

Leave the chemical for 10 minutes and then extract the whole lot out with a wet vac or just use folded towels to soak it all up

OR

Place the towels on top of the chemical and push down as hard as you can.

Once you are done repeat the process for severe cases and your car will be smelling like a rose again!

When you mix up the formula be sure to add a little dish washing detergent which will help the dog urine smell remover penetrate right into the car seats. You will notice alot of foaming when you first put the product down which is completely normal.

Hi I am Ken The Odor Dude and dog urine odor removal is my specialty.

I will be here to help you should you have any inquiries or issues.

When I first started neutralizing dog urine odor I found that a lot of products that claimed to neutralize dog urine did not work and this was why I spent so much time struggling in the field. The products were expensive and close to useless. This was why I had to devise a unique system and learn what to do over the years and you can learn these unique techniques also.

Odor removal Tip No 1.

Don’t just spray the top of the carpet. Urine penetrates in to the deepest layers so use plenty of odor control product.

Odor removal Tip No 2.

Spend time finding the source of the odor. Don’t rush this step as if you miss a bit it will cause frustration later on. To find where the urine is simply spray the carpet and the product will foam up so you can clearly see where to treat it. See demo below

Spray our Odor Control product to locate urine

I also spend time with dog owners helping them not only neutralize the dog urine but also help them to train their dogs not to urinate inside the car or home. Better to treat the cause of the problem than to keep treating urine. Dog urine smells very bad and if left for long periods or not neutralized properly then the smell will develop and become very toxic.
